Tips for Your Daily Devotions
Great daily devotions begin with the right attitude.
You cannot have successful
daily devotions if your mind is clouded with the burdens of life.
Clear your mind
and ask a blessing on the word before you begin your devotion.
If you have the
right attitude, ask the Lord to show you the meaning of his word, and always keep
an open mind your daily devotions will be successful.

With the right attitude and motivation you can have successful daily devotions that bring you closer to
God and help you to develop your relationship with Him.
When you begin your time with God make sure
you have the right attitude.
Along with the right attitude you will need quiet time and a place where you
can reflect without the interruptions of life.

If you expect to have a good time of fellowship with Him you will be successful.
Show your reverence by
preparing your heart by being still before God during your devotions.
Always give Him your best by being
awake, rested, and alert.
It is also important to be teachable and come with the purpose of doing anything
God asks of you.

You should also choose a consistent location for your daily devotions.
Luke 22:39 tells us Jesus chose to
pray in the quiet garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives and we need to choose a quiet and
secluded place where we can be alone and undisturbed for our devotions.
This can be hard in our busy
world but finding a place of solitude is important to truly understand and reflect on God’s word.

Always read with a purpose and when you have your daily devotion ask the Holy Spirit to help you
understand the greater meaning than the printed book in front of you by giving you someone to help you as
you read.
Ask that Jesus Christ lean over you and use His divine hand to guide you.
You must read the
Bible in His presence for it to come alive and to truly see the meaning for your life.

If you are wondering how to have daily devotions just remember that you must read the word of God and
praise him with an open heart and an open mind.
Always look to Jesus Christ for guidance as you look for

Tips for Youth Bible Study
Too many young people think that Bible study is boring and that they have
plenty of time to learn and follow the word of God once they are an adult.

This is not true, and a lie that Satan uses to stop young people from knowing
and loving God.
Bible study is exciting because learning and following the
word of God.
A person is never too young to understand the word of the
Lord and apply its message to their life.

Young people can find many rewards from the Bible.
God has promised many rewards to those who find
him through His words and prayer.
He has promised Strength (Isaiah 40:29-31), Peace (Psalm 119:165),
Joy (Psalm 16:11), Success (Joshua 1:8), Stability (Psalm 16:8-9), Answered prayer (John 15:7), Personal
testimony (Acts 4:13).

Youth Bible study does not have to be complicated.
There are three important steps that a youth Bible
study group should follow to understand the Lord’s word.
They should observe God’s word and see the
message in the passage.
Then they should then interpret the meaning of the text as it applies to their life
and finally apply the message to themselves by asking what the passage wants them to do.

When you observe the passage ask who is in the story, who is writing and who is being written to.
Look
for what is being communicated, the cause, affects and meaning in the words.
Put yourself in the passage
and think about your reactions to what is being said and what the words mean to you.

In order to interpret the Bible’s message ask why the writer said the words, why they are significant, and
what is important about the words.
Finding the importance of the words as they are written will help you
to find the importance of the words in your own life.

To figure out how a passage can be applied a student Bible study group should focus on taking the
message and working it in to their actions at home, at school, and everywhere else.
They should think
about the changes they should make or actions they should take to embrace the message.

The goal of teen and youth group Bible study should be to develop a love and understanding of God’s
word.
He messages of His word will help young people to navigate the confusing world of today with
lessons that will teach them how to love and revere God.
Young people can show their love of God by
following John 5:3 and joyfully obeying his commands.

Here are some tips on developing a method that will work for you.

You should read passages and chapters systematically in order to uncover the entire meaning of God’s
word as it applies to you.
It is easier to study the bible when you build on lessons and allow them to
uncover their meaning and build on each other.

It can help to put yourself in the passage you are reading in order to understand its message.
Imagine
yourself in the same situation and think about how it would feel to be there and how you would react to the
words being said.

Putting each passage in your own words is also a great way to understand the message in it.

Making the Most of Daily Devotions
A large source of Jesus strength was the quiet time he spent in prayer and
devotions each day.
A personal fellowship with His Father in Heaven was a
top priority of Jesus’ life on Earth according to Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16; and
22:39-44.
Even when Jesus was busy with exciting ministry spreading the
word of the Father he spent time in prayer according to John 5:30.
If Jesus
could make quiet prayer and devotion a top priority there is no reason why it
should not be a top priority in our lives as well.

Daily devotions are an important part of understanding God’s word and finding a personal relationship
with Him.
If you want to have meaningful daily devotions you will need to develop a plan or some kind of
outline to follow for your devotion quiet time.
The plan should be simple and help you to develop your
relationship with God.

Before you begin your daily devotions follow Psalm 139:23-24 and 119:18 and invite Jesus to be with
you.
Then read a Psalm out loud or sing a praise song to God to get your mind-set ready to worship.

It is best to read the Bible slowly and systematically and to only read only a small amount each day.
You
should read passages more than once if you cannot find the meaning the first time you read it.
Always
make sure you understand the message of the Lord and how it relates to you before moving on.
You can
try reading passages out loud as if the Lord was speaking to you personally if you have trouble finding the
meaning in a passage.

Mediating is a great addition to your daily devotions.
You can meditate by reading passages out loud a few
times then asking questions.
Memorizing a verse will help you to remember the verse and its meaning and
reading a passage in a couple of different translations as well as paraphrasing it in your own words will
help you to find its meaning.
During meditation you can ask God how a passage relates to your life and
how He wants you to apply the truth to your life.

Using a journal to write down your thoughts, reflections, and any other truths God gives you is a great way
to remember the message you have found and how you can translate it into your life.
Your daily devotions
should be a way to get closer to God and find his meaning for your life.
