As a premier artificial turf manufacturer, Eco Alliance is well-versed in the history & state of the artificial turf industry. Artificial grass turf is a man-made surface manufactured to look like natural grass. David Chaney is the man long credited with creating the first generation of artificial grass turfs. Artificial turf had its commercial birth in 1965 when it was installed at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. The use of artificial grass turf became more wide spread in the 1970s and was almost exclusively limited to sports applications in both indoor and outdoor stadiums. By the 1980s artificial grass turfs were installed at a number of soccer (football) fields throughout Europe. First generation artificial grass turfs earned an infamous reputation because of their unforgiving nature leading to serious joint injuries and their “unrealistic” look.

Artificial Lawn A Growing Trend in Suburban Landscape Provided by: Eco Alliance In the wake of water environmental and economic crises, financial shortages are almost as prominent as water shortages. In order to survive these times, savvy consumers need to extend their planning into the long term, making decisions today that will benefit them and their community tomorrow. Since some of the biggest wastes come from the suburban landscape, the best place to begin this change is our very own home, right in our own back yard. The ordinary lawn and yard often consumes more resources than the house itself, accounting for more wasted money, energy, and water than is produced by the benefits of a superficially green space. But a yard should be green, and it should not be accompanied by the headache that normally follows it around. It should be beautiful and functional, and it should make us feel good about our choices. When resources become scarce, and people become
