May 9, 2011 Leander Seniors Garner Recognition as National Scholars Leander Independent School District seniors have earned national recognition for their exemplary performance in the National Merit Scholarship Program, the National Hispanic Scholar Award Program, and the National Achievement Scholarship Program for 2011. A breakdown by award category shows: • 11 National Merit Finalists • 13 National Merit Semifinalists • 25 National Merit Commended Students • 7 National Hispanic Scholars • 7 National Hispanic Recognition Program, Honorable Mention • 1 National Achievement Scholars • 2 National Achievement Finalist • 1 National Achievement Program, Outstanding Participant These students are now eligible for scholarship awards from institutions of higher education and other grantors. “Leander ISD is very proud of these students’ accomplishments.
