For Willamette Valley Greyhound Lovers The Fifth annual Eugene Greyhound Picnic Saturday, July 25 and the fifth annual greyhound picnic was underway. With greyt weather (the seriously hot weather started the next day), about 40 greys and 55 of their human housemates showed up to celebrate. The purpose of the party, if indeed a party needs a purpose, was to allow everyone to share their experiences over the last year, socialize, and to raise funds for the organization that gave them all a common purpose – GPA Northwest. As their human counterparts socialized, shared food, purchased and spent their raffle tickets; the greyhound revelers socialized and played in their own manner. In the off-leash area, the greyt party goers were muzzled, but their joy was obviously unbridled as they ran, chased, and lounged in the wading pools.
