Brothers in Arms
Bristol’s open top bus service will display the City of
Bristol coat of arms this summer in recognition of the
vital contribution it makes to the City’s tourism.
The City Sightseeing
Service, now in its
16th season,
introduces around
18,000 passengers
every year to Bristol’s
important landmarks.
The service is run by
Warwick Hulme from
Rubicon Classic
Travel and has
historically enjoyed
close links with
Bristol’s Lord Mayors
– last year the
retiring Lord Mayor,
Cllr Royston Griffey,
became an
‘open top’ guide for the day and the present Lord Mayor,
Cllr Christopher Davies, presented certificates to all the guides.
Last summer the City Sightseeing service was also presented with
the coveted VAQAS (Visitor Accreditation) in recognition of the
careful planning and anticipation of visitors at all levels.
“Permission to include the coat of arms on our buses is a
tremendous honour and reflects the efforts made by all our team,”
says Warwick Hulme.
“Every member of our team shares a genuine
concern for the convenience and enjoyment of the visitor to leave
them with a lasting memory.
”
The City of Bristol coat of arms was officially presented to Warwick
Hulme of City Sightseeing by the Dep.
Lord Mayor, Cllr Royston
Griffey, and will be displayed on each of the open top buses.
It’s the first time for more than three decades that the coat of arms
will have been seen on City buses.
It had previously been a
long tradition on Bristol’s trams and buses – going back
to the late 19th century.
Ship Ahoy!
Passengers buying a full adult
ticket on City Sightseeing
Bristol will qualify for a £1
discount in the café if they
visit the SS Great Britain.
Brunel’s famous iron ship is
one of the most popular
stops for open top bus
travellers and the deal is
offered as part of City
Sightseeing’s partnership
with the attraction.
Trolley Dollies
Bristol City Sightseeing has
become part of Bristol
Airport’s Travel Club.
This offers its members
discounts including £1 off the
cost of the open top City
tour! In addition, City
Sightseeing is offering the
Airport’s 2,800 employees a
2-4-1 ticket, although there’s
no truth in the rumour that
the buses will soon feature
trolley dollies!
