David Evennett, MP, was the
guest of honour at the recent official opening of the
rebuilt Barnes Cray Primary
School, in Crayford.
He gave
a short speech congratulating all those involved in the
project and wished pupils
well for the future.
Pupils then sang songs for the
guests, and told the audience what
they liked most about the new
buildings.
After cutting the ribbon,
Mr Evennett was given a tour of
the facilities and met David Willis,
Principal-Designate of the proposed Crayford Academy.
Also among the guests were
Children’s Services Cabinet Member Cllr June Slaughter, and Crayford ward councillors Howard
Marriner and Geraldene LuciaHennis.

One evening last month, at about 7.

see it land, closely followed by a second helicopter.
We, like many of our neighbours, left our dinner
and rushed out to see what was going on.

landed within the school grounds, the first one

MP attends the opening of Normandy
Children’s Centre
David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and
Crayford, was one of the special guests at the
official opening of Normandy Children’s
Centre.
The event also coincided with Normandy Primary School’s celebration of the 65th
anniversary of D-Day, which included a live band, a
petting zoo, face painting and a reception.
Mr Evennett is pictured with Cllr June
Slaughter, Cabinet Member for Children’s
Services, Headteacher Wendy Greatorex and
three local members of the Normandy Veteran’s Association, who unveiled the plaque
marking the official opening.
Bexley miss out of
teaching awards
Not one education professional in Bexley won
anything in this years Teaching Awards.
The nearest to Bexley was Greenwich where
Steve Agnew from Eltham Hill Technology for
Girls won The DCSF Award for Enterprise.
