News that the refurbished Morrison store in
Welling is about to open will cause a mild
heart flutter among smaller businesses in
Welling.
Tesco’s new store is taking shape
with its huge underground car park and massive retail area.
No opening date has been
fixed but it is expected to open in time to
catch the Christmas trade.
Another giant owned by the people is the
Co-Operative Group who paid £1.
56 billion
pounds for the Somerfield food stores.
A spokeswoman for the Group told the
Chronicle: “The Co-operative is planning to
revamp and convert the Somerfield store on
Station Road in Sidcup before the end of the
year, following The Co-operative Group’s acquisition of the Somerfield supermarket
chain.
“However a date for the work to begin has
not yet been finalised.
“We do not have a date scheduled for the revamp of the other Somerfield store on High
Street however The Co-operative Group
plans to rebrand all the Somerfiel
