Louisiana United Methodist Children
and Family Services held a ground breaking/dedication ceremony on Oct.
17 for a
new facility that will serve the children of
southwest Louisiana.
The tract of land is located in the
Sulphur/Lake Charles area of the state,
near the intersection of Hwy.
27 and
Houston River Road, with the river serving as the northern boundary of the property.
The 40-acre tract will be the site of a
residential facility and an administrative
building.
The residential building will
house youth ages 10-17.
The total facility
will be named the Louisiana Methodist
Children’s Home of Southwest
Louisiana.
Construction of the new facility is set
to begin in 2009 with a goal of Sept.
1,
2010 for its completion.
