Those you love were violently wrenched from you. Who do you turn to? What do you turn into? UNSTATED is a powerful story based on the true testimonies of the men and women who seek refuge in the UK. Sometimes smuggled, sometimes forced from their own land; washed up on the tide of British society, how welcome are they? Topher Campbell’s compelling production fuses an explosive mix of film and live action. UNSTATED exposes how we treat some of societies most vulnerable. Part performance, part installation, it is an interactive show presented in a promenade space with the venue being turned into a ‘removal centre’. Zion Arts Centre, 17-19 July, 7. 30pm. Matinee Sat, 3pm. Tickets: 0161 226 1912. UNSTATED: Stories of Refuge Toolkit training sessions are specially tailored to keep you and your practice in good working order. The sessions are free, designed for ease of access and for anyone involved in arts & community projects, novice or expert, who needs some fine tuning. Following is a summary of the up coming training sessions planned: •21 Jul - Fund-raising for your arts project •4 Aug - Becoming self employed •11 Aug - Refugee awareness •18 Aug - Disability awareness All sessions are held at Green Fish Resource Centre, 46-50 Oldham Street, Manchester M4 1LE. Places are free & access costs (e. g. interpretation, disability access etc) can be covered, however a £5. 00 returnable deposit (cheque or cash) is required to reserve a place.
