Being an eco-tourist
on the camp site
YouareverywelcometotheTarn,wherewehopeyouwillenjoy
exploring the architectural heritage of our cities, the character
of our villages, and the rich variety of our landscapes with
their natural habitats.
However, each of these very attractive
environments is dependent on a balance which can all too
easily be upset.
The département of the Tarn has therefore
taken steps to develop sustainable tourism.
Here are some simple ways in which we can all help
when we’re on a camp site.
• Not using the car when remaining within the camp site, but
choosing to walk or cycle.
• Not wasting water, by turning taps off as soon as possible
and letting the camp site staff know if there is a leak.
• Using biodegradable washing products (shampoo, soap in
preference to shower gel.
.
.
).
• Not lighting fires or barbecues, except in the areas specifically
intended for this purpose.
• Using re-usable cups, plates etc rather than disposable
ones.
• Helping to recycle rubbish by finding out from the camp
site where glass can be disposed of and by sorting waste
correctly.
• Not throwing batteries, medicines or light bulbs away with
the rest of the rubbish, but finding out where there are
collection points.
• Using washing-up liquid and washing products which carry
the European Eco-label or the “NF Environnement” logo.
• Respecting our neighbours by keeping dogs on a lead and
being careful not to disturb other people by making a lot of
noise.
• Buying solar lamps and chargers, or rechargeable batteries
for torches.
• Not leaving anything behind on our pitch on departure.
The Tarn Tourist Board has put its Tarn Eco-Tourist
Charter on line, on its own website.
