Faculty Welcome Degree Audit System
One of the high points in Augusts All Faculty Meeting
was Registrar Mike Maysilles’ demonstration of the
Degree Audit System which will allow students and their
advisors to better monitor students’ progress toward
their degree.
Using the Degree Audit, students and their advisors can
check at any time to see what curricular goals and major
requirements remain to be completed.
Previously this
required individual paper check sheets to be sent to rising juniors and to seniors twice in their senior year.
With
information now at their fingertips about how their advisee can complete degree and major requirements, faculty advisors will be able focus on the bigger picture,
offering guidance and insight into where an interest in a
discipline might lead.
Two things made the Degree Audit possible: great collaboration between the Registrar and IT team-members
and the decision to use the tools available in PeopleSoft.
