Consultants now provide Wilderness First Aid certification, through the American
Red Cross.
The first class being offered is in conjunction with the American Alpine
Club, on July 18th and 19th, 2009 at Umstead State Park, Cary NC.
Apex, NC, May 28, 2009 -- Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is a 16 hour course focusing
on basic backcountry emergency response.
As opposed to standard First Aid,
Wilderness First Aid courses train attendees in how to care for injured people and/
or to respond to emergencies when emergency medical services are not immediately
available.
Anyone who spends time in the woods hiking, climbing, camping, or even
kayaking and canoeing should consider taking a Wilderness First Aid course, so that
they can be confident that they are equipped to handle emergencies that they may
face, and to best care for the people with them.
