A recent report from the UK Competition Commission recommended that BAA (the
British Airports Authority) sell two airports that they operate, namely Heathrow
and Gatwick Aiport.
Folkestone, Kent, March 28, 2009 -- A recent report from the UK Competition
Commission recommended that BAA (the British Airports Authority) sell two airports
that they operate, namely Heathrow and Gatwick Aiport.
In the view of the
commission, many of the issues with the level of service at these airports,
especially Heathrow, were related to BAA s common ownership.
It has already been suggested that BAA will sell off both Stansted and Gatwick
Airports along with either Edinburgh or Glasgow Airports in Scotland.
The sale is
intended to bring benefits to both passengers and airlines as the new airport
operators will be inclined toward developing the airports as effective competitors.
Under new ownership the airports will have a far greater incentive to be more
responsive to the needs of both passengers and
