December is fast approaching and on December 15, 2009, Joyce
Riddell, President of the Chamber, will be retiring after 28-years.
All
current Huntington Beach Chamber members are invited to attend
her retirement dinner on Friday November 6, 2009 at 6:00 PM.
The cost will be $100.
00 per person and will cover the reception,
dinner, parking and a gift for Joyce.
We have a wonderful and fun evening
planned and hope you will join us in
reflecting on her many contributions
to the Chamber of Commerce and
the Huntington Beach community
as a whole.
Invitations will be mailed
shortly, but we encourage you to
save the date.
Further details will be
forthcoming, so stay tuned.
Riddell has been responsible
for a multitude of significant
accomplishments while guiding the
Chamber.
They include:
•Starting more than 20 new and
successful programs; including
the Winner’s Circle Breakfast,
Economic Conference, the Annual Dinner, the Ambassadors, the
Awards Luncheon and the Robert Mayer Leadership Academy, to
name a few.
• Increased the budget tenfold.
• Forming 10 Committees.
• Development of an organizational structure.
• Gaining 4-Star Accreditation from the U.
S.
Chamber of Commerce.
• Obtaining new technologies for the Chamber.
• Development of a marketing program.
• Creating a consistent identity for the Chamber.
• Publication of an annual report and directory.
• Creation of a monthly newsletter that has evolved over the years.
On December 15th, Perry Cain, the current Executive Vice-President,
will take over as the leader of the Chamber.
While he has big shoes
to fill, Cain looks forward to continuing the legacy that Riddell has
created and maintaining the reputation of the Chamber as one of
the very best in California and the Nation.
