London, UK, June 10, 2009 -- The UK s project management community is gearing up
for the change to Prince2 2009, the latest version of the Prince2 method.
The new manual, and exams, are due to come into the effect during the summer of
2009, although your can sit the current 2005 Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner
exams until the end of 2009.
Firstly, there are 7 Prince2 "Principles" which have been added.
In other words,
guides to good project management best practices, such as business justification
and management of risk.
These are mentioned in the 2005 manual, but not
specifically outlined as a framework of methodologies which wrap around Prince2.
Second, Components are now called Key Themes, and are reduced in number from 8 to
7.
Similarly there are now 6 Processes instead of 7.
Key though is that all the
45 sub-processes have been stripped out and are not included in the 2009 manual.
This is aimed at stripping out sections of the current Prince2 training manual
which are seen as unnecessarily complex.
The Techniques section will include cross-references to other Bodys of knowledge
including ?soft? aspects.
The number of
Management Products has been slimmed down to 27 products from 36, and additional
content has been added within the section relating to the Project Environment,
where none previously existed.
And lastly, the Hints & Tips section is now in an FAQ style, which is seen as more
user-friendly than before.
NOTES TO EDITORS
Prince2 is widely used as a project management method in IT-projects in both public
and private sectors, but it has become popular in non-IT projects as well.
It is
now the UK s de facto standard for project management.
One of the most effective
ways to grasp the method is through Accelerated Learning.
The training course equips delegates with a detailed knowledge and structure of the
method, working through each stage of pre-project preparation and the project
lifecycle.
PRINCE2 was originally developed by the Central Computer and Telecommunications
Agency (CCTA) now part of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) in 1989 as a UK
Government standard for IT project management.
The Firebrand Training Accelerated Learning course:
? Helps students grasp complex project management concepts more easily by
identifying and catering to individual student learning styles through a mixed
visual, auditory and kinaesthetic-tactual delivery system
? Enhances retention by employing accelerated learning techniques focused on
committing information to long-term memory
? Is not like other bootcamps where just the exams are taught.
In fact our PRINCE2
training courses is delivers more case based scenarios than traditional training or
boot camps
