Perth, WA, June 05, 2012 -- The Perth Mint has unveiled the first design in its
innovative Australian Map Shaped coin series.
To craft a coin in the distinctive shape of Australia requires the use of purposebuilt tooling, hand finished dies and advanced minting techniques.
Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie, said that The Perth Mint was
the first minting organisation to pioneer and perfect the Australian map shaped
coin.
?Out talented team of engineers developed special machinery to manufacture
this unique coin to the highest standard,? he said.
The new series showcases iconic Australian wildlife, which is characteristically a
