A Renovation Project for
Immaculate Conception Church
For over 155 years, the Catholic people
of Immaculate Conception-St. Joseph
have been up to the challenge of
Christian discipleship.
Our parishioners brought the Catholic
faith to a frontier town. They built an
ornate Cathedral at the end of the Civil
War, home to seven successive bishops.
Through the years, they established
Catholic schools, hospitals, orphanages,
health clinics, convents, and rectories.
After the tragic fire which destroyed the
Old Cathedral in 1961, our parishioners
built the present Church of the
Immaculate Conception during the
Second Vatican Council.
Nearly fifty years later, the time has
come to renovate our church. As did
those who went before us, we look to
the future not the past. The financial
challenge before us is real, but so is our
living faith. We ask for God’s blessings
and entrust this great undertaking to
the One who has called us forth in
