Who Will And Will Not Be Saved By Fred Wikoff Predestined But Free To Choose By Petey Prater CJ’s Faith Journey We have started a new year which means a new faith journey for The Christian Journal. Our mission is to share encouragement and inspiration with our readers. We print 16,000 papers that are spread over Southern Oregon and parts of Northern California. We have been serving since 1998. In a recent article talking about the changing trends in advertising and marketing it stated that print advertising (like we have in The Christian Journal) has gone down over 20% in the last two years. That means more and more people are finding other ways to advertise than in newspapers and magazines. Christian newspapers across the country are taking a big hit as well. Many have stopped printing. Others are doing whatever they can to stay in print often eliminating paid positions, offices, etc. We are staying in print because of our readers. Our goal is to raise 600 paid subscriptions

We had calculated that with regular advertising income we would be able to print 12 issues and cover all our expenses. You can see we reached 1/2 of our goal. Thanks to those who were faithful in helping us. Your gifts kept this paper in print this year! We did have to slash our budget to finish up the year. Basically our editor worked for free the last three months. Yet, the demand for this paper continues to increase. We get heartfelt letters and emails from readers who tell us how much this paper means to them. Can you help us finish the year and prepare for a new year financially? Power to defeat evil. Power to relieve pain. Power to heal. But the only source of power is found in God. The good news is that God’s willing to share His awesome power with us! How do we receive power from God? One way: we must sit at His feet until we fall so in love with Him that we abandon all of self to all of His great love. As we grow to know and trust God, we willingly pour self out before Him. Then His Person and power fill us. Those who are filled with God go from His presence and do miracles in His strength. “the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” Daniel 11:32 Knowing God always comes before power exploits and wonderworks. But exploits are normal for those who spend time with their Father, the God of All Power. As we look

Times are changing. The economy is down. This month, one Christian newspaper printed their smallest issue in 14 years caused by a decline in advertising. Another Christian newspaper is closing shop in November caused by a decline in advertising. This issue is our lowest in 10 years because of a decline in advertising revenue. Can we keep going? Yet, the demand for this paper continues to increase. We get heartfelt letters and emails from readers who tell us how much this paper means to them. God hasn’t told us to stop printing, but He has told us to continue to move ahead in faith and seek help from readers. At the beginning of this year we set a goal for 600 paid subsciptions. Sowing Seed. The Bible talks much about sowing seeds and reaping a harvest from the seeds that are sown. Paul talks about being a generous giver and how much God loves those who are. It seems that giving is very important to our personal growth with God. It is also very important to ministries that serve the Lord and His work. The Christian Journal is a ministry that is depending upon the Lord and the generosity of His people to keep spreading encouragement and inspiration to its readers. Your gifts each month help cover the costs for printing ande distribution. You help cover the cost of mailing the paper each month to 350 inmates. Your donations inspire our staff and keeps us totally depending upon the Lord for the spreading of this ministry. Thanks. A gift of $20 sponsors a sub for

God created us to be generous. We are continuing to learn about being generous at The Christian Journal. We have been practicing it for some time in small ways, but we are being challenged about becoming more generous every day. How about you? Recently we were reminded about Jesus’ comment about getting back what we give. He talks about the measure we give coming back to us. How surprised we often are when we only get the dollar back we put in the offering plate. Somehow we think God needs to give us a large amount and we only need to give a small amount to Him. Yet, when we learn to be generous we understand Paul’s statement of reaping what we sow. Paul also talks about God loving a cheerful giver. We have many cheerful givers who bless The Christian Journal. They are faithful and p

A Faithful Servant Of The LORD April 2011April 2011 www. thechristianjournal. orgwww. thechristianjournal. org By Barry Shaw Pastor Stan Way, Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church (CCC) in Medford, has been a faithful servant of Jesus Christ since he was called by the Lord at age 19. At that time, he was a first year student at Foothills College in Los Altos Hills, California. Although raised in a strong Christian family, he’d not committed his life to the Lord. One Sunday at church, a team of young men from Teen Challenge, a drug treatment ministry, gave their testimonies. Stan says that the Lord “used those inspiring testimonies to bring me to faith in Christ. It was a major turning point in my life. I transferred to Bethany [Bible] College in Santa Cruz and graduated with a degree in pastoral theology. ” “After graduation,” says Pastor Stan, “my first assignment for Christ was as director of Teen Challenge in Northern California. These servants of God paid dearly to own “…the righteousness which is of God by faith. ” Philippians 3:9 KJV Bonhoeffer and Chambers both knew the secret of Christianity isn’t the changed life but the exchanged life. They learned God alone credits righteousness to man through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. “For God took the sinless Christ and poured into Him our sins. Then, in exchange, He poured God’s goodness into us. ” 2 Corinthians 5:21 TLB It isn’t obedience, sacrifice or suffering that makes me acceptable to God, but the death of Christ.
