Written by: Autism Advisor Jobs With Autistic Children Many parents are convinced their child with Autism will never be able to work. They do not see how their child will get a job, learn a job, or keep a job. Because they can not figure these things out parents do not even consider employment. The answer to some of these concerns is the meaning of carving out a job . Carving out a job means someone looks at all the job responsibilities in a department or a store. Then that someone looks at the tasks that the person with Autism can do. This someone is usually a job developer or sometimes family members. Parents usually wonder why we need to carve out jobs. One of the answers is that children with disabilities see their parents go to work. Work is one of the things that they see adults measure themselves by. It gives adults something to hang t

Although their behaviors are difficult, nearly all autistic children s behaviors are not intended. They just happen as a result of feeling upset or frustrated, inability to express their needs or share their experience, or because of too much sensory input. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for autism, only treatments and some of them are experimental. While most are widely documented, the efficacy of each treatment differs from one patient to another since the condition is not yet fully understood.

Written by: Autism Advisor Autism Speech Delay If you suspect that your child is showing signs of a speech delay it is worth further investigation so that appropriate intervention can be sought as early as possible. Almost one in twenty adults suffers from some sort of speech or language disorder. If diagnosed and corrected before the child reaches school age, it will have less impact on their overall intellectual development. Normal speech development begins with the newborn as they discover that they can use their mouths to produce an array of soft sounds. This later develops into babble and by the age of 12 months most babies will be able to say ma and da or even the occasional word. Each baby has their own unique developmental timeline and an individual s schedule could be brought forward or delayed by weeks or even months for no apparent reason. As a

The findings of different studies regarding early and intensive intervention for children with autism spectrum disorders are not conclusive as to whether autistic children truly benefit and progress more the earlier they start undergoing therapy. However, no studies have shown that early intervention hinders the development of autistic children in any way, and it truly has helped others. The logical course of action for parents of children with autism is to enroll their child in a special autism pres-school to give t

Because early intervention is crucial for the development of the child, the following guidelines are presented to assist parents in recognizing mild autism in their child. * It is difficult for them to make friends. Socialization is impaired because of an inability to communicate effectively. If they are able to start a conversation with a peer, they may not be able to sustain it. * They become focused on one activity to the exclusion of their surroundings. They may even sit and stare at a toy or other object for long stretches of time. * They show a decreased ability to make eye contact with others and are unable to maintain it for long when they do succeed at it. *Sudden t

But what is most puzzling and frustrating is the recently discovered Theory of Mind. In the past couple of decades, this particular problem has been researched on thoroughly and discussed exhaustively, but no concrete solution has yet come up. Due to the Theory of Mind and its related problems, autistic people find social interactions extremely strenuous. Theory of mind effects social behavior in almost every way, from children s playgroups to the adult s social world. This theory claims that people suffering from autism do not recognize other people s points of view as valid. An autistic person is not necessarily egocentric; he or she just presumes that every other person in the world knows and feels exactly the way he or she does. Most people sufferin

The early autism signs in infants start to appear as early as six months but typically infants are diagnosed only upon reaching 3 years old. It is important for parents to be aware of the early autism signs in infants. Early identification is important so that interventions can be implemented and parents can also seek advice and help from experts and from autism organizations. Babies suspected to have the disorder should be observed further and must be checked by pediatricians or autism experts. Early intervention is important to the success of the different treatments for children with autism. This is the reason why i

Sometimes, it the signs and symptoms of autism can go unnoticed by the parents if they are not very obvious. High functioning autism types like Asperger is one of those autism types that do not show signs that are very obvious. Other than that, the classic autism symptoms are rather apparent. Regardless of which type of autism the child has, there are some ways to pick up these signs and symptoms of autism. Parents should be more informed about autism to know how to diagnose it as early as possible. Most of the time, parents are the ones who notice the symptoms of autism, although sometimes, it may be the doctors who pick up the signs before the parents do. I lecture around the country and talk on these videos on my website about how important biomedical intervention is. But one thing to recognize is that when we look to implement a biomedical protocol whether that is through diet, supplements, etc, we are really assessing the underlying medical issues. What that can entail is the use of diagnostic testing, urine, stool, blood, etc. in order to look for imbalances. The imbalances could be nutritional like vitamins and minerals, essential fats or amino acids. Or the imbalances could be biochemical or involve digestive problems. Kids may not be digesting their food appropriately and the

" When an adult avoids making eye contact, at that moment, he or she is often judged as "dishonest. " An autistic child is different only in that his or her dishonesty is frequent and extreme. Baby psychology and parent psychology are interconnected. The subconscious dimension is the truer and most influential dimension of our humanness. There is no understanding autism and the true causes of autism without understanding this key fact. The autistic children that I have clairvoyantly read and reported about usually had a variety of reasons for not making eye contact with the people around them. The most basic reason was that they were being defiant. They were being dishonest and knew they were being defiant and did not want "the outside world" t

These children are already gifted with a lot of intelligence. You can frame these activities to them as a way of learning people smarts to balance out their book smarts. This article will cover children from the ages of 6 to 13 years old. Prior to age 6, it is helpful to start pre-school children off with video clips of the child s everyday social experiences. Film the child playing with his or her peers in the sandpit, or involved in games of chasing, or hide and seek. You can then pause the video clip at different times to discuss particular cues and responses. Ages 6-9 ye

While the lack of social interaction and speech can sometimes be missed in the home environment (not all children vocalize and interact at the same level at similar age), poor interaction with other children of a similar age is a significant indicator of potential autism. Due to the lack of social awareness, the autistic child may appear to prefer playing alone. The tendency of the autistic to focus on an object, for example, may be apparent in a simple activity like playing with a toy truck. While it appears that the child is indeed playing with the truck, in

There may be times when the child refuses to do his or her homework. How do we get autistic children to do their homework? The first important task for getting an autistic child to do their homework is to make sure when they begin school, to let them know, that homework is an exciting challenge and they will have homework during their school years. Parents, caregivers, should make a positive game of it. Do not do their homework for them, even though they have the disorder of autism. Try to hint and direct them by giving them directions, understanding their questions, their homework plan, when the homework is due, and how much they understand or need t

Many times our children mimic what they see us do. They also learn to react with anger if we react with anger. This is even truer with a child with a disability. If we are going to teach our children differently, parents need to model what they want their children to do. This includes a more thoughtful response to instances of misbehaving. We teach everything else to a child with autism. We teach simple things like putting on a shirt. We teach more complex things like speaking and learning to read. Why do we punish when someone misbehaves? Autistic Social Skills They obviously do not know how to do some things like behave. We need to teach how to behave. Breaking positive and wanted behavior
